My late FIL froze his lungs that way. He was one of the last of the
Hudson Bay fur traders; in 1947 he was breaking trail in front of a
dog sled, over exerted himself and started breathing too heavily.

The company kept him on despite his impaired health and he oversaw
the construction of several Bay stores (Hay River, Keg River, Paddle
Prairie, North Vermillion, Jean D'Or Prairie, Assumption, Meander
River); as soon as they were up and running smoothly he moved on to
the next one. He did that until 1960 when he retired and bought a
farm in the East Peace country (at Rocky Lane near Fort Vermillion).
