correct... this is one reason why there is a bit of a resurgence of BBSes in
non-US locations... the main thing i was pointing to is that when there were
some, the local call charges did not really allow users to call a BBS and spend
(eg) 60 minutes a day online reading messages, playing door games, and
transferring files... it was just too expensive so users in fidonet were pushed
to being point systems and pulling echomail from the BOSS node which was much
more affordable... granted, it didn't allow for door game playing but messages
were the big thing... not sure about how they handled uploading files to a
BBS... FREQing files is/was just natural as a point if the BOSS node allowed
it...
