The latest news on Gangs of New York. I just got finished watching the
Pey-Per-View. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 8.5. The storyline
is set to match with real life events as they happened. The battling they
refer to did actually take place. Cross the bridge into Brooklyn, and on the
left (the little grassy area) is the remains of a cemetary where about
40,000 people were buried who died during the fueds/battles. The President
did,in fact, order Northern Army in to the city to end the gangwars. The
military were the only winners, numbers-wise. I recommend this movie with
much enthusiasm to anybody wanting to know why New York is the way it is
now. It started off rough, and has reason to stay that way. Back in those
days, the CITY was all like current day Central Park after dark. Constant
fights for power (earliest know Mafia-like factions in US history) fill the
movie, which has a couple of key elements of the period masqued in ways hard
to detect upon first sight.
