I saw a message text file once, analogizing the situation to autos
... what auto "help desk" calls would be like if people had the same
attitude with respect to learning to use them that they have with
respect to learning to use VCRs, computers, etc., and if starting
out with the same lack of knowledge and with the same attitude that
they shouldn't have to learn anything.  Heck, my dad got a new Ford
Escort station wagon this past year; and there wasn't a prayer of
knowing how to work the thing without reading the manual to find out
where half the controls were and how they worked.  Going to it from
anything else can be more confusing than changing computer software.
I just got another mailing from Intuit, offering me a special price
to upgrade to the Windows from the DOS version; and I'm tempted to
write back, letting them know what I'm using will be the last one if
they've abandoned DOS.
