I think the biggest 'eeeeuw' factor in the LDS segments that practice
polygamy (and they consider themselves the TRUE mormons and the others
apostate) is the apalling amount of child abuse in these sects...girls as
young as 12 'married' to old men and expected to spend most of their lives
pregnant, boys ejected from homes and community as they reach the age when
they would start looking for mates. No allowance for anyone who might want
to leave to do so openly and safely. (Even the Amish allow their kids a
year in the world to find out whether they want to continue in their
community) And the church in Utah not willing to even say 'this is wrong'.
