-> The colouring, the wording anyway, is another mystery. All
-> the horses that i have seen were yellowy or creamy yellow
-> coloured with very dark stripes; which I assumed were black.
->
-> Grey and brown dun, though,I am puzzled by.
-> Does this mean that the stripes are grey or
-> brown, or that there are actually grey-bodied norwegian fjords out
->   there somewhere?
Here are the descriptions of the colors we use for registering the horses.
COLOR AND MARKING:
The OFFCOLOR references below refer to the dark color in the forelock, mane
and
tail, and the dark dorsal stripe along the back.
BROWN DUN is the most common Fjord Horse color. Along with the dun color
ody,
the off-color is black or dark brown. The face above the muzzle usually has
brown highlights with the muzzle area being very light in color. The dun body
color can vary from light tan to dark brown but always retains a tan or brown
shade.
RED DUN horses have reddish brown off-color, never black. In some cases they
may have a completely white forelock, mane and tail.
WHITE DUN horses have very light body color with black or grey off-color. The
legs may be dark up to the knees and the face above the muzzle is usually the
same color as the body instead of brown.
YELLOW DUN horses have darker yellow off-color, never black. The forelock.
mane
and tail can be completely white. This color is rare.
GREY horses have black or grey off-color along with the grey body color
Yes there are Grey body color Fjords around. There are not a lot of them
though. There are also some of the White and the Red dun's around. The
rown
Dun is the most common color. I do not know of any Yellow Duns in this
country.
