Hello Andrew, On Friday November 23 2007 18:27, you wrote to me: MvdV>> Be that as it may be, the author still has ownership of MvdV>> whatever is left. AL> Exactly. I do not know where it eventually lands up, but what I do know is where it comes form: those who pay for a product that is for all practical purposes abandonware. I have mixed feelings about registering abandonware (for money). If the source code is really lost, there is no way the buyer can ever get bug fixes. So is it ethical and fair to ask the full price? I think not. OTOH, there is no reason to say "no" to prospective users who want a registered version anyway... MvdV>> Other than that: so far it is just rumour that the source is MvdV>> lost. Possibly... AL> Media failures are fairly common among tape backups, for example. Yes, that happened to me once. The tape was physically ok, but I was unable to retrieve what I needed. Just could not find it. Fortunately the damage was limited because I still had a previous version that differed only in a few details from the lates version. I learned from that. That was the lesson I learned. ;-) Cheers, Michiel --- GoldED+/W32-MINGW 1.1.5-b20070503* Origin: http://www.vlist.org (2:280/5555) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 300 400 34/999 90/1 103/105 106/1 120/228 123/500 SEEN-BY: 134/10 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 SEEN-BY: 261/1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 393/68 633/104 200 260 262 267 285 SEEN-BY: 690/682 734 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 303 SEEN-BY: 2905/0 @PATH: 280/5555 5003 2432/200 774/605 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
