I think a large part of the variations in success/failure rates probably
have to do with the PAS having gone through several revisions.  Mine is
an early card, actually branded as a Thunder Audio Spectrum 16 card.
OS/2 recognized and installed it as a PAS, and the settings I wrote
earlier work for me.

I see.  It is really a problem.  Your experience is quite a bit
different from mine in this regard.

Yes, it sets the initial volume level to 80%, which roughly parallels
what I have set up on the OS/2 side.
