Testing at Monza

(14-Jul-98) - Testing has started today at the Italian circuit of Monza. In
fact it already did yesterday when Williams was the only team running with
test driver Juan Pablo Montoya. Today McLaren, Jordan, Stewart, Prost,
Arrows, Benetton, Ferrari, and Sauber joined in. Minardi joins in on
Wednesday. Tyrrell is not expected to test this week.

For most teams it is the first time they run the 1998 car on a high-speed
circuit like Monza. Teams prefer to use this circuit in preparation for the
Austrian Grand Prix in two weeks as the A1 Ring at Zeltweg is in a way also
a high speed circuit with two long straights and several high-speed
corners. Besides that, Monza is not far from Austria.

Testing today concentrated mainly on general set-up work and some
aerodynamic tests. The weather was quite good with temperatures reaching
26øC before rain ended testing at 17:30h.
