Can or glass covers
Rug, worsted cotton or acrylic yarn, about 2 ozs.; size G (4.5 mm)
hook. Starting at bottom, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Pull
starting yarn end to form circle. Work in rounds, do not join. You
may mark beginning of each round to help keep your place. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (12).
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (18).
Rnd 4: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (24).
Rnd 5: (Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (30).
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (36).
Rnd 7: Working in back loops only on this rnd, sc in each sc around.
Rnds 8-20: Sc in each sc around; at end of round 20, sl st in next
sc, fasten off.
This is the basic pattern. I usually finish off the bottom and top
edges with a sl st of contrasting color yarn. Have also cross
stitched patterns on these--the only limit is your imagination!
Elaine had some really good ideas for making these, using up scraps
of yarn, trimming with bows, etc. Quick & easy!
