subject: FRIST RESPONDERS

JK} Jonathon NO NO NO First Responders are NOT EMTs !!! I am a Va state
certifi
JK} EMT-C ( Cardiac Technician ) and yes the state does recognize the First
JK} Responder as just that the First person on scene NOT the Ultimate care
JK} provider. I hope this helps to clear it up for you. If you need more info
l
JK} me know I'll contact the state office of EMS in Richmond and get it for
you
*I* know this... I guess I should expand on the question a
little...
I was told that there are a FEW states that do not recognise
First Responder Certifications... Those states that don't recognise
F.R.'s as basic EMT's because that state's certification levels are
different... I think Utah was given as an example...
I don't know... As I said in the original message, the source
this info came from was not very reliable.... I was just curious on how
accurate/inaccurate the information was ...
BTW: I know the first person on the scene is considered the
First Responder in legal terms, I'm talking about a course the Indiana
gives certification title of "First Responder" to - I'm in this class
now. We will get defibrilator training, and lots of other great
training... (I'm taking the course primarily for my job right now, but I
plan on volunteering with the South West Allen County Fire Department as
well...)
