FIA admit to feeling groovy

(7-Jul-98) - The FIA have admitted that they are considering adding an
extra grooves to front tyres next year.

Technical delegate, Charlie Whiting, revealed the news to F1 designers at a
meeting of the technical working group though there was no mention of
lateral grooves.

A maximum width for the front tyre was discussed as well as an extra
circumferential groove. The changes are intended to reduce cornering speeds
which have escalated during the season.
