I have had horrid success with Tiger Barbs, and no longer suggest them to 
anyone. They are unable to eat properly, without losing control of their 
air-bladder. They eventually die trying to avoid floating to the top. 
However, a more edumikated fish-type in the area has found the loss rate to 
drop significantly running a slightly brackish, slightly acidic setup with 
barbs.
