Practically... I'd not be surprised if there had been some actually
doing their cooking outdoors. We finally got some snow today, and
there's supposed to be a little more over the next few days... nothing
particularly heavy, though...

Yup, around Thanksgiving, there was a lot more snow activity... and then
it all melted away... weird weather.. Rochester often doesn't get the
huge quantities of snow that Buffalo and Syracuse (on either side of us)
tend to get... but then we are situated next to the long side of Lake
Ontario, and they are at the ends of it (and Buffalo also at one end of
Lake Erie), so they get the bulk of the lake effect snows... Buffalo was
especially whomped in that storm... There was more snow at Christmas in
the midwest than what we had here...

That's the trouble with the feasts... ;) Dessert needs to be a
separate meal, after one has had a chance to let the other settle and
digest a bit.. ;) When my family gets together, we tend to have
hors d'oervres-y stuff, rather than make a full meal... we plan it well
enough so that one gets a reasonably balanced meal from it (as long as
one eats from it sensibly), but keep it informal pretty much. :) After
a while the sweets get added to the array...
