Haug confident for appeal overthrow (26-Jul-98) - Mercedes boss Norbert Haug is confident that McLaren's appeal against the result of the British Grand Prix will be successful when it goes up in front of the FIA World Council in Paris on Monday. The German, still celebrating his success in Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix, believes that his team will get some points back for what happened at Silverstone when Michael Schumacher escaped without punishment for overtaking under a yellow flag. "We are celebrating again and that is right," he said. "It is easy to do what we did in Monaco, but less easy at Silverstone. That is a question of sticking together. "I think we will win the appeal. If a driver overtakes under yellow flags he should be penalised, even if he did not see it. If there was not a chance for that penalty to happen, then they should stop the race. "I hope that they decide to stop the race at lap 42 and award half points. I have never seen anything like it. When has somebody taken a stop-go penalty after the chequered flag. We are on the right side." --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
