Each planet (or in some cases, empire) has its own economic system. On
Earth, about 60 years before TNG, a revolution brought by the
introduction of replicator technology resulted in a currency-free
society where all needs of the population could be easily and
automatically sustained. The only property that you can't get for free
would be certain rare earth elements, land, and big-ticket items like
shuttlecraft and holodecks. Many but not all other planets followed the
same course as Earth; the Ferengi and Klingons are noteable in their use
of various hard currencies. Starship crews probably receive some means
of compensation for their extrodinary work, such as an option to the
title of land on colony worlds, but generally don't need money so they don't
carry it unless stationed someplace that uses money.

: J :What religion does humas have in Star-Trek?
Oprahism and Voodoo.
I imagine there are quite a few xenodeistic cults, such as the Borgies
and the Q-shippers, probably several cults to the Preservers. And no
doubt many have imported alien religions which follow the teachings of
Kahless, the Bajoran Prophets, etc. It seems like anyone who held onto
old Earth religions left the planet and founded an isolationist colony
where they could practise their religion without interference.

Yeah, watch those episodes. I don't want to spoil it for you.

I personally didn't like the advent of dark-skinned Vulcans. And I'm not
a racist thinking that only "whites" can be hyperintelligent. It's just
that it makes them too human. I'd rather see Vulcans with more green
pigmentation, or pink Vulcans, or something else suitably alien. As for
actors, I don't really care. But they've had lots of white actors who
had to wear dark makeup to be Klingons, so why not make a black actor
wear green-white makeup to be a Vulcan?
Speaking of Klingons, there was one light-skinned Klingon as a featured
bad guy on DS Nine, but he was referred to as "The Albino" and I take it
that he was more of a freak, a genetic anomaly, than a representative of
an ethnic group.
There have been dark-skinned Bajorans, as extras in some of the crowd
scenes on DS Nine. But they seem to be either an extremely small
minority of the population, or a small minority of the priviledged class
which has access to DS Nine.
Oh, and Bolians. There are grey-skinned Bolians (early to mid TNG) and
bright blue-skinned Bolians (TNG, DSN, possibly VOY). Now that is alien,
picking colours that you don't have with humans, and that I like.
