Stewart's disappointment

(26-Jul-98) - The Stewart team had a disappointing Austrian Grand Prix
after a fine qualifying performance for Rubens Barrichello that saw him
start the race in fifth spot. "It' disappointing to have Rubens' race
end like it did after such an excellent chance of a strong finish,"
commented team manager Paul Stewart. "He had a rear brake fluid leak
and he had no choice but to retire. I feel sorry for him because he ahd
driven brilliantly all weekend. It's a huge letdown after so much
promise."

Rubens Barrichello added, "I had a brake problem right from the start
- even on the first lap when I went inside Fisichella there was too much
travel in the brake pedal. I wasn't sure whether it was just the pedal's
feel, but I had no choice but to come in because the car was too dangerous
to drive. A disappointing end to a good weekend."

Team mate Jos Verstappen lasted slightly longer but eventually retired with
engine failure. "It was a shame because my car felt very good."
the Dutchman pointed out. The team is looking forward to Hockenheim where
it feels confident of scoring points on the low-downforce track.
