Not relevant in this discussion, which was about the distinction (if any)
between fans and readers.  If you're involved enough in fandom to say
about yourself that Fandom is Just A Goddamn Hobby, then you're probably a
fan rather than a reader.

However -- it _is_ relevant that fandom is a hobby.  More exactly, a hobby
which not all sf readers are interested in, or even know about.
