It's secure enough for the U.S. Navy. And quite a few other services that
need secure communications. Motorola has sunk millions into this new
technology on the lower 800 mhz. bands and they aren't worried about cloning.
A "simple" scanner for this unit would cost 40 grand to start you off, but
it goes through over 30 steps of security to sign onto the network. It
takes almost 40 seconds to go on line. The number of combinations and the
complexity of trying to clone one would not worth it.
The transmission would be noticed right away and shut down.
Their network knows when every unit is on or off and where it is in the
network.
