I live in Tacoma, WA, and only about 5 min. from a boat ramp on the puget
sound. I have found an extremely unusual looking boat that I feel would be
just perfect for my type of use in the bay.
It is a probably late `60's - early `70's Glastron trihule, V215 Vagabond
Camper. What is so unique is the fact that it has a cabin and is an open
bowrider. It has a ford V8 ( want to say 351, but could be wrong) and I
think an OMC outdrive (white with through prop exhaust and a little bullet in
the center of the prop.
I have no idea what the boat is worth, and the owner claims to not know
either. It has been sitting for a number of years outside and looks
terrable. But under the dirt it appears to be in very good shape. The
canvas (brown) looks bad, but on closer inspection could clean up to look
new. Only the two little jump seats in the open bow need upolstering, which
I can do. The bottom did appear to be straight.
In the cabin is only seating, which also makes into a bed. No galley or head,
which is fine with me. Means there is a tremendous amount of elbow room.
I am trying to find someone who knows anything about this type of boat and
possibly what a value might be. The owner claims everything worked two years
ago when he parked it in the driveway, (it obviously has more than two years
of dirt on it). But it doesn't start now, so he says. The motor doesn't
bother me, but the I/O unit is usually a little harder to keep in tip-top
condition.
I might add the owner is 85 and has had brain surgery.
Any info would be appreciated.
