Hi Langley,
 > What are equipment costs like now?
If you're asking about purchasing a BC and regulator setup,
you're looking anywhere from $500 up through about $1500.
If you add a dive computer then it would be another $2-500.
Mask, fins and snorkel will run $50 to $150.
 > What do lessons cost now?
This is always a tough one to answer since there are lots of
variables associated with the check out dives and equipment
rentals. My best guess is that you're looking at a total price
of $200-250 for open water lessons.

PADI does offer a "Scuba Tune-Up" program designed for people
who've been out of the water for a year or two. You might want
to consider a complete retraining if it's been quite a long time
since you've been diving. There have been numerous equipment
changes in the last five years, as well as new thoughts about
safety stops, dive physics, etc.
