* Jonathan de Boyne Pollard appeared on the first ballot, but was
  subsequently removed due to lack of email acceptance of his nomination.
  Since we had a tie, I contacted Darin McBride, Tom Torfs, and Auke Reitsma 
(C_Echo moderator). As it turns out, Tom is the newly-elected moderator of 
the C_Echo as well, and would prefer not to try to moderate both echos so 
long as there's a qualified alternative. Based on this information, I hereby 
cast the official tie-breaking vote for Darin McBride. Per the rules, Darin 
will officially take office on 8-Feb-1998.
  Thanks to all who participated - condolences to Darin! ;-)
  In separate email, I recommended to Darin that he begin thinking whether he 
wishes to implement zone moderators in C_PlusPlus as have been used in the 
C_Echo for the past two years. If he decides to do so, I recommended that he 
begin soliciting volunteers from zones 2 and 3, ASAP. Similarly, I encourage 
all who qualify (email access, technically competent, emotionally stable) to 
make yourselves available to Darin should he decide to do this.
