Goodyear not complacent over success

(23-Jul-98) - Goodyear's Formula One operations manager Perry Bell has
warned his Bridgestone rivals that they are far from complacent about
helping Michael Schumacher to the world title this season.

Bell, speaking on the eve of opening practice for the Austrian Grand Prix,
said they were delighted about Schumacher's success in the past few races
but they were still working hard to ensure they stayed ahead.

"We have certainly seen the momentum change in the battle for the 1998
Drivers' and Constructors' world championships," he said.
"Everyone at Goodyear is very excited about the results of the last
three races."

"However, we recognize that the season is far from over and that we
must continue to introduce additional performance improvements if we expect
to achieve our goal of having a Goodyear equipped car win the drivers' and
constructors' world championships."

"For this reason we are continuing our aggressive tyre development
program. Testing at Monza last week allowed us to work on further new
developments which we plan to introduce in the near future."
