I find it fascinating to watch the heirachy forming and reforming,
and it's especially fast to develop with mares. One of our mares
was poorly this summer - nothing serious, just off form. She dropped
down to bottom of the pecking order, always being chased away from her 
feed. Recently started feeling fit again, and she's steadily working
her way back up.
