Mansell F1 link denied

(21-Jul-98) - Sources close to Nigel Mansell have dismissed wild
speculation that the former World Champion is planning a return to Grand
Prix racing next season.

The former world champion was said to be keen for another chance in F1, and
speculation was heightened at the British Grand Prix when he spent time
with the Stewart team. This led to talk that he may test for the Milton
Keynes-based outfit later this year.

A spokesperson for Ford said, "There is absolutely no truth to the
stories at all and there is no plan to put Mansell in the Stewart car. His
contract is exclusively with Ford in the BTCC."

A source close to Mansell added, "Nothing's been discussed. He is
happy with his BTCC commitments and now is not the time to decide about the
future."
