In 1978 I was driving a cab and this woman paid her fare in pre-1964
quarters, worth far more than the face value. I told her that but she
insisted I take them. Bought them from the company before I turned in my
money for the night.
I had other silver coins, until 1981 when I was burgled and those were
taken, along with some other things.
But I do have some silver coins I've collected since then, along with
some wheat pennies.
I recall once in the late '80s someone paid a bill I was collecting with
a 1940 era $20 bill. It was a bit worn and I bought it from the company
and had it for sometime until it disappeared. No idea what happened to it,
last I saw it it was in a drawer. But it was a silver certificate (I
think) bill.

  Yep.
