ML> this is exactly what they do on the methadone programs... to get ML> folk off of the crack, cocaine, heroin, and other stuff, they get'em ML> hooked on the methadone and then wean them from that... if they'd ML> legalize the use of ibogain, they wouldn't have as many repeat ML> offenders :? I remember reading something about that. Some drugs are such that you can't just quit them cold turkey. You have to be weaned off... A good book on this stuff is a memoir by Christopher Kennedy Lawford, "Withdrawl Symptoms"... But what I was driving at is how the pill pushers just want to keep us piled. If a pill for one thing causes a nasty side effect, than take smethng for the side effect etc etc etc etc... and jokes are made about how bit is your pill compartment box. Sheeze. (There's actaully decorator pill boxes now..) Back to that book though. The author makes a profound statment saying how once he cleaned up, he felt as though he was enduring 'arested development'; missed out on a normal adolescence.... Another point he makes is: the reason so many addicts stay addicts isn't so much because the drug is phys/psch addicting but because the addict is so used to the familiar life of being an addict; the how to live without the drug is too hard to contemplate. *(IOW they don't know how to live 'nomral'.
