Estoril's testing role

(21-Jul-98) - Portugal's Estoril circuit could become Formula One's
permanent home for testing, in a deal that would result in its imminent
return to the Grand Prix calendar.

Speculation that F1 bosses would like to centre testing on the circuit as
part of the proposed 20-race Grand Prix season has started in the wake of
the resumption of construction work at the track early this month.

A œ10 million injection of funds from Portugal's government will allow
Estroil, which last hosted a Grand Prix in 1996, to be brought up to latest
F1 standards, including the remodelling of the final corner.
