-=> Quoting Kurt Weiske to Joe Mackey on 07-18-12 11:25 <=- KW> My rather cynical post about banks, how they prioritize withdrawals KW> before deposits, etc. doesn't apply to my current situation. I bank KW> with a reputable local credit union who doesn't have a lot of fees, KW> calls me if there's an overdraft or deposit issue, and a human answers KW> the phone on the third ring or sooner. KW> I found them on a great web site called http://www.moveyourmoney.org, KW> a great resource for getting your money out of "too big to fail" banks KW> and fund banks that are fiscally responsible - and add great service. I've had my money in a local credit union for quite a while, long before the most recent bank crisis... I was getting tired of banks that kept adding more service fees, and obviously didn't want my business since I was such a small customer... No fees for checking, decent rates (at least before things got so strange) for savings and CDs, nice rates for loans (and since one has a relationship there already, fairly easy to get credit when one needs it), and an annual owners dividend based on the business you do with the credit union... And always great service. JM> That bank was a bunch of thieves. But living a small town with few JM> options, what's a person to do? Other than not having an account. KW> There are some good online banks that don't have any local branches. KW> Some will even mail checks for you! I was tempted to try one of those KW> out before I found my current bank. That's nowadays... Back then, you couldn't easily get an account that wasn't local... even credit cards had to be with a local bank, not held by some bank even in the next big city over, let alone based several states away or only online (internet as such didn't even exist)... ttyl neb ... To a cat, "NO!" means "Not while I'm looking". ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: www.holo.homeip.net: -telnet://holo.homeip.net (1:261/1381) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 953 @PATH: 261/1381 38 712/848 633/267 |
