Barnard Arrows split

(28-Jul-98) - Arrows technical director John Barnard has left the team and
could be joining Prost before the end of the season.

Rumours had suggested that Barnard and Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw have been
in dispute over contracts and finances for the Arrows A19.

It is believed that Walkinshaw feels Barnard has created a car that was too
expensive and technical for a midfield team. The two are also said to be in
dispute over Barnard's contract and TWR's planned purchase of a percentage
of Barnard's B3 development company.

Walkinshaw refused to comment on the rumours saying only, "I have a
contract with John and I anticipate him seeing out his two-year deal with
us."
