Barrichello to Williams?

(28-Jul-98) - Rubens Barrichello is being linked with Williams in the wake
of Alex Zanardi's failure to decide whether to return to Formula 1.

Sources close to the Brazilian have suggested that the contract has been
signed, but Barrichello admits only to having 'spoken deeply' with
Williams.

The team's '99 driver line up remains confused with drivers such as Hill,
Coulthard, Herbert and Trulli all linked to the team.

Meanwhile, Heinz-Harald Frentzen is believed to have been told that he may
have a chance to stay at the team and has said: 'There is a really good
chance that I will stay at Williams.'

The team's plans seem to rest on Zanardi's decision who is believed to have
been offered œ6.25 million to stay with his Ganassi Champ Car team.
However, Bernie Ecclestone is said to have offered to contribute to
Zanardi's retainer in an attempt to lure the US's best driver to Formula 1.
