The neat thing is that Spanish is very consistent in
pronunciation. While living in the U.S., I had quite
a number of Spanish speaking friends and while I did
not learn to speak it, I learned HOW to speak it.
I once ordered a meal at the Hyatt in Dallas only to
have the Nicaraguan waitress switch languages. I knew
enough to understand what she was saying, but could
only reply in English - which startled her. I guess my
pronunciation was pretty accurate! ;-}
