  Hello Jeff,
  If an underline will serve your purpose, try this:
  Set a tab at the right margin.  At the end of your text, activate the 
Underline option by clicking on the U button on the toolbar.
  Hit the Tab key and Word will underline the area between the end of the 
text to the next tab, which you set at the right margin.
  Remember to de-activate the Underline option before continuing your text.
