It is with great pleasure that I answer Geno's post...

       Not really, just pride.
Congrats on the Martec. It is a step up from the standard
Michigan wheel, for sure. But keep the piggy back handy and aim for a
Maxprop. Have you hear of any experience with the new " Autoprop"?
I have a Garmin 50 for the sloop and a Garmin 55 for the Cessna
180 on floats. I swear by both of them. Makes it easy for me to use as
the key punches are the same on both units. I do not plan on getting a
"chart" based unit at all. Makes one too dependent on NOT reading
charts anymore. Wrong habit to get into the nun said to the monk! ;-)
Nicou is now on the hard for the next 5 months... (7?) We have
here a "let" from the customs guys, that we abuse. I bring the sloop
back into Canada for "repairs". It is then one hour away by motorcar,
so makes it handy for defitting and refitting. You guys out in BC do
not benefit from this "let", I have been told, if your ship is "in
bond", ie: tax out.
Zig Zag, a Mirage 27' is still in the wet and will come out
around the mid October period. But then again it is quite fresh out,
not too many warm days left. Feels like the west Coast today. Hi!hi!
One word of caution with any Autohelm, this applies to the under
cockpit floor types, turn them off when you start the diesel. Or you
will spike the unit and loose it. Note that in your car, if the radio
is on and you start the engine, the radio is cut off. You have to
manually do thison your sloop as this "spike" protection is left to the
owner. I have installed MOSORBs on all my electronic devices. This will
pass to ground any spike over 16 volts. Nothing lost so far!
       May you have ebeam winds.
... There is nothing of value here, keep going..
