No extra race

(28-Jul-98) - Team bosses have said they don't believe that an extra Grand
Prix will be added to this year's calendar.

Rumours had suggested that a race at Jerez in Spain could be take place
October to fill the five week gap left by the cancellation of the
Portuguese race.

Eddie Jordan said, "If there was a chance of an extra race, Bernie
would have mentioned it to the teams at our meeting before the British
Grand Prix, and he didn't."

And Alain Prost added, "We haven't spoken about an extra race for
three months. The criteria to add one is easy (all the teams have to
agree), and we can't do it because we have planned out budgets. We would
have to be compensated."
