From: "Glenn Meadows"
We've been using 3Com NBX 100's, but NOT VOIP to the outside, standard PRI.
I know that they've made great strides in VOIP to the outside since we started.
Our NBX systems have been ROCK solid.
With multiple locations, and if you have dedicated data links, you can even
send inter office calls down the dedicated service link. The system is
fully web configured, and maintained. Voice mail available via Web
interface, as well as IMAP into Outlook (or any email program that supports
IMAP). Has full TAPI capabilities. Dial from your contact list in Outlook
if you like.
You would most likely handle 99% of all admin chores once it's setup and
configured with the correct dial plans, from a 3Com reseller.
The one here in Nashville has been running perfectly since it was installed
in 2000. Just be sure to run it on a battery backup, and add the UPS
support function. It's NOT real happy with hard crashes due to power
outages. It's a UNIX derivative for the OS (at least our generation is,
and takes a LONG time to restart after a hard crash. It can talk to a UPS
and do a shutdown if required).
