CH> oops. And yes asleep during English class. Where I went to collge, CH> it was a tech school. It was said tech schools get bottom of the CH> barrel English profs because nobody is an English Major after all. SO CH> this one prof we had , teaching something about the History of CH> English, enjoyed putting us to sleep. He chewed gum, constantly wound CH> his watch and kept going on and on about middle English. That would explain the catchy phrases that people (even adults) use nowadays when intead of saying "He/she/I said", they say "They're like" or "He/she's or I'm like" and my all-time favorite -- "I hope your feeling well." CH> The class was on the first floor of the Science Building. One find CH> very warm afternoon, a frog hopped in, down from the Biology lab. CH> Now that had to hve been the most Exciting English class ever! No doubt! (-: CH> Okay okay> You can use it. But if you read that book boy they really CH> really lay it on thick about that, that that Too bad they didn't talk to me about its usage first. CH> But! Isn't it *that! (I'm teasing).. amazing how the authors CH> illustrate show don't tell, bu actually doing it? Just look at the s CH> size of that book. It's power packed, It won't put you to sleep. I CH> If anything it will wake you up. Those people think others will believe anything that is put in print. CH> No. Of cousre not. But books have been my primary way of getting CH> information. And a lot of books DO help you learn to think. :) Information, yes, but not someone you don't even know telling you that using the word "that" is unacceptacle. It all depends on how it is used in a sentence. For example, read Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Ask those people if they approve of the way Mr Lincoln used it. If they say no, then run, don't walk away from them. Regards, Roger ... If a bear is chasing you please don't run this way. --- D'Bridge 2.99* Origin: NCS BBS (1:3828/7) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/201 34/999 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 3828/7 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
