The more I think about this for a laptop, the better it sounds. I am
resistant to the idea of significantly increasing the cost of a laptop,
which is likely to be stolen. However, because of the % of time I have to
use a laptop, the performance increase can pay off.

I wonder if Vista's cache will choose the best size for this type of
drive? The cache size would be zero if it was as fast as main memory, I'm
guessing the optimum size is greater than zero, but much less than with a
conventional drive. Also, would it be smart enough to disable the
optimization processes that arrange for frequently used programs to be
stored contigously on disk?

Over the next year, at the very least, I would hope for large built-in
SSD memory add-ons to hard drives, which Vista could use with Windows Ready Boost.
