I actually run the undergravels in addition to Emperor filters.  I've seen 
recommendations for all kinds of filter systems in here, but i don't have the 
funds to make any changes.  With 6 different filters scattered around my 
tanks, the fish are lucky I can afford to replace the cartridges! :)
