Well I don't use the peroxide.

Well several issues with that.. 
 
1) Horses with tendancies towards proud flesh should not have this put on 
them.. it will promote the process.
 
2) If the wound is severe.. nothing more then cold water should be run on the 
wound while the vet is on the way. If it's bleeding excesively.. get pressure 
on it NOW.. don't worry about anything other then stemming the bleeding. No 
turniquites.. just direct pressure.

Good catch.. completely slipped my mind.
 
All horse owners should know the average sound of their horses guts during 
rest and after excersise.. the same goes for heart beat and resperation and 
capalary refill time. 
 
I normally check gut sounds strickly by putting my ear up to the sides of my 
horses.. that's typically all I need. If I do need the stethoscope.. then I 
get VERY concerned quickly.
