For example you enter the note number and the various parameters such as dynamics, on/off times etc. Other programs allow pressing a qwerty note then setting the duration by hand. For example, you press the qwerty note C then click the space bar or cursor the mouse along for each 1/8 note duration or other "step" you set. Old time midi sequencers and drum machines used to programmed like this. As was mentioned try something like Cakewalk etc... Mike **** ...
