Rosset hits out at Villeneuve

(12-Jul-98) - Ricardo Rosset has launched a side-swipe at reigning world
champion Jacques Villeneuve for accusing him of being a danger to the
Formula One field.

The Brazilian, who has been at the back of the field for much of the
season, used to see Villeneuve as a friend but after the Canadian's
accusations, he now views things a bit differently.

"It's stupid, that's the only word for it it, to suggest that I'm
dangerous," said Rosset.

"I mean, looking my my record no-one can say I shouldn't be here. I
deserve to be here more than a few other drivers at this race."

"But when someone is under pressure they find a way to blame someone
else for their mistakes and that's what happenes -- that the pressure of
Formula One."

"I look at him [Villeneuve] in a different way now because I don't
think he's a person who deserve any respect from me after what he's
said."

"If you can live with yourself blaming other people for your own
mistakes you are a certain type of person. I know I can get out of bed in
the morning, look in the mirror and know I'm doing the right thing."

Villeneuve's accusations against Rosset came following their crash in
practice for this year's Monaco Grand Prix.
