I don't think they sell anything less than 345 meg.

Or ignorance. Some people simply don't know that there are
better bangs/buck available from the larger drives. I know
when I was buying a 240 meg drive from the same mob, I simply
forgot to ask them what the prices on the larger drives was
like, and found out later that for just a little bit extra I
could have had a MUCH better deal. It is not obvious why the
drive price should fluctuate with the different sizes. E.g.
why 540 meg would be cheaper than both 345 meg and 1 gig.

Indeed, at these prices, hard drives are cheaper than most
brands of floppy disks, and it wasn't until I was on my way
to buy some floppy disks that I did the calculation and realised
I may as well back up on to a second hard drive!

Anyway, I realise this is off-topic and will sign off here.
Actually what happened was that that message from the other guy
was the last message in the echo after going "end" then "enter"
and I saw that statement, cursored back to see if he was a
buyer or seller, and when I saw he was a buyer I thought I'd
point out to him the c/meg you could get on new hard drives.

BFN. Paul.
