The OPTIMA Business Modem will support a higher maximum throughput
(230,400
bit/s instead of the 115,200 bit/s that the ACCURA gives). However, you
would likely not realize an advantage to this for BBS operation, where
you are likely never going to (or even be able to) set your port speed
above 115,200 bit/s anyway. The OPTIMA Business modem does offer several
features that the ACCURA 288 V.34/V.FC does not, such as distinctive ring
support, caller ID, remote configuration, flashrom upgradeability, voice,
and pass-through and dial-back security. It really all depends on what
features you would want or be able to take advantage of. If everything
s
working fine with the ACCURA and you don't need any of these other
features,
then you wouldn't be motivated to make the change.
