I would think that "soft" would only be a bad thing if the photographer
didn't intend for the picture to be soft. This morning, I shot some pictures
of a harbor seal grabbing and eating a salmon. Many were soft, it was not
intended. They suck.
However, I have often run into people who thought their pictures were sharp
and they clearly were not. Often it turned out to be a glasses problem.
