JP> It's a royal pain in the butt to always have to go to the
JP> computer lab at school to work on my programs when I
JP> could be working on them at home. I don't have the funds
JP> right now to go buy a copy, as they're not cheap.
VC++1.0 is included on a CD with the book "Learn C++ the Easy
Way", which costs something like $30. Check Amazon.com.
It isn't the latest, but it's cheap and it's friendly. :)
I just checked amazon.com and they have it for $31.95.
   The proper title is:
Learn Visual C++ Now : Teach Yourself Microsoft Visual C++
      the Quick and Easy Way
By Mark Andrews. Published by Microsoft Press.
   ISBN: 1556158459
There are some REALLY bad reviews from people who got this
and expected something more like VC++4.0/MFC and an advanced
tutorial. I feel their pain. :)
Still... $32 for an out-of-date C++ compiler ain't too bad.
If you don't expect gold, the cheese is pretty tasty. :)
