Coulthard in quest for speed

(12-Jul-98) - David Coulthard is embroiled in a frantic quest for more
speed around the Silverstone cirucit ahead of this afternoon's British
Grand Prix, if he is to ressurect his title chances.

"Qualifying is so vital nowadays. If there was anywhere I was hoping
to get it right it would be here," he said after qualifying yesterday.
"There is obviously something wrong with the car, though at the moment
I don't know what the problem is. I just hope the engineers can find out
the problem before the race."

"With all the support I get here as one of the British drivers, I
really wanted to perform well this weekend. But it could not have got off
to a worse start by qualifying fourth. It's not a position that I want to
be in."

"The balance of the car itself wasn't a mile out but I just couldn't
get the acceleration. The speed I had had during the morning session [when
he ran second behind Hakkinen] just disappeared.You want to do so well in
your home grand prix. I'll just have to come back tomorrow and try again
then. Of course, it is a disappointment as far as the championship is
concerned from my point of view."
