explicit range you cannot use it on, probably due to the spurs that Garey
referred to.

The column that says "Do Not Use Between" is blank. I would like to add 30 meters and possibly 17 also, but it seems to have a few caveats. 73, Eric KA8FAN Garey Barrell <k4oah{at}mindspring.com> wrote:
Garey Barrell made an utterence to the drakelist gang----------------------------------------------------------------------Eric -There is a very good reason for using the 20.8 MHz crystal instead of the 21.1. There are several spurious outputs in and around 10 MHz when using the 21.1. This is specified in the T-4X(any) manual with "do not use" ranges for certain crystals. Keep in mind that the PTO operates in and around 5 MHz.....And yes, you can transceive on any crystal you have in the receiver, but the same problems occur with a 21.1 MHz crystal in the R-4(any). If you just want to listen to 10.1 - 10.150 the 21.1 MHz crystal will work in the receiver. But don't transceive using that crystal. Transceive isn't all that satisfactory on CW anyway, since the offset is around 900 Hz and most f! ! olks like to listen to CW at a somewhat lower frequency.73, Garey - K4OAHAtlantaDrake C-Line Service Manual<HTTP: R-4C_Servicez hr99.home.mindspring.com />Eric Webner wrote:> I wonder if the 21.1 Mhz crystal would work as well.
