PAPER CASTING
Here's what you'll need to get started....a Mold, Cotton Linter and Paper
Clay, a kitchen blender, sieve, sponge and towels.
To make paper pulp, wet a sheet of cotton linter and tear pieces into
blender with 1 qt. cold water. Add 1 tsp. Paper Clay; blend.
Pour 1 cup pulp into sieve to drain until the water stps running and just
drips. It will still be very wet.
Spread pulp into mold, completely covering edges.
Gently press pulp into mold with sponge. Wring out sponge and repeat.
Using folded kitchen towel, press pulp firmly into mold. Repeat several
times to absorb more water, and to insure the paper picks up all the detail.
Dry pulp completely in the mold.
When paper is completely dry, carefully lift edges with a thin, sharp knife
and peel out of mold.
If you want to redo your casting, simply put it back in the blender with
some water and start again.
Paint and decorate as you desire. Glue your paper castings to cardstock, a
wreath or gift box, or matte and frame.
