Hi Marianne

Oh, I dunno. I've seen many a diver tearing up coral, killing animals,
torturing wahtever they could get hold of, etc. Often it's just poor
diving technique, and then there are those who just wreck things for
whatever reason people do such things.

MR> You ought to try burping these babies they weigh 20-25 lbs at first
MR> and they are nuzzling and so cute
I have no doubt they are real dolls. I would like a chance to try and
burp one. It'd be worth the effort!

MR> but this particular one that bit me
MR> was dying of neurological problems so it's bite to me was it's last
MR> fight to live really---they go down fighting.
He/she may not have even known what was going on. It is sad what
brain disease/injury does to people and animals. Oh, well, it's the
thought that counts.

MR> As for the subject of scrapes---Thailand????? Wow, must be beautiful
MR> but primitive in some ways.
It is beautiful, except for spots where overpopulation or ecological
disaster or over-touristing has stripped the land/undersea environment.
When I was first there in 1982 it was relatively untouched. Since then
they have prostituted every possible aspect they can. But that's not
any different than anywhere else in the world (just look at parts of
CA, FL ...) Sigh.

MR> As for me the most out of the country I
MR> have ever been in is some of the border towns in Mexico, along the
MR> California, Arizona and Texas borders
Never been to Mexico, but just South in Belize. That's a nice, easy
foreign trip. Good diving (but getting expensive fast.)
MR> But I'd love to dive areas like
MR> Palau, Truk, and Cancun, or Cozomel But then I haven't had much chance
MR> to dive in California But hopefully soon.
Those are very nice areas, but check the level of diving before you
go. I always wanted to go to Truk until I found that the wrecks
START at 40 meters (120 feet) and go DOWN from there!!! This is
very technical diving and many people are lured there, and then go
diving even though they are not qualified because they don't want
to waste the vacation. Lots of serious injuries result. PADI and
others are working to rate the technical nature of diving areas to
prevent this kind of diving tour shams.
MR> Well, I'd like to hear more about Thailand some time.
I'll be glad to, but you may regret asking!!! I can go on and on
and on and on... I've been there 20 times and have more stories
and pictures than any mere mortal can sit through! ;)

 MR> Thanks for writin back.
My pleasure. Till later.
